Slave Inventories of the Ellis-Farrar Families of Mississippi and Louisiana

The Ellis and Farrar families were major slaveholders and landholders in southwest Mississippi and southern Louisiana. Richard Ellis an early settler of the Natchez District, The families came together when Mary Ellis married Benjamin Farrar in the late 1700's.
owned White Cliffs, Homochitto, and Laurel Hill plantations in Adams County, Mississippi.
Dr. Benjamin Farar (1773-1826) was an early settler of Pointe Coupee Parish, La. and also owned lands in Adams County, Mississippi.
The documents presented here are from the years 1829, 1847 and 1848 and represent enslaved people on the Presleigh, Ormonde, Buckhurst, Elliscliffe, Laurel Hill, Beverly Plantations as well as slaves kept in Natchez by the family.
